A living news programme
Checkpoint Brussels: a living news programme
Brussels is one of Europe’s most diverse cities, but its many communities often exist side by side, each with their own media and perspectives on current affairs. This fragmented public sphere hinders social debate and influences how Brussels, Belgium and Europe understand and govern themselves.
With Checkpoint Brussels, Bozar aims to build bridges between these different worlds. This monthly live news programme brings together policymakers, artists, entrepreneurs, thinkers and engaged citizens to discuss current events – local, national and international – from a variety of perspectives.
The programme combines debate, interviews, artistic interventions, book and event recommendations, and music. The focus is not only on the news itself, but also on how different communities experience and interpret that news.
Each participant speaks in their own language; translation is provided.
