Talk + film screening
Mark Fisher died on 13 January 2017. The British cultural critic and philosopher became a cult figure thanks to his incisive and far-reaching analyses of radical politics, pop music, and internet culture. Through blog posts on subjects ranging from Adele to Adam Curtis, Fisher explored the cultural imagination of the twenty-first century. He achieved international recognition with the now-iconic Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative?, a work that influenced countless writers and artists. In compelling prose, Fisher unravelled the ideological foundations of contemporary Western culture.
Ten years on, Bozar pays tribute to this singular thinker. Join us for a screening of the experimental documentary We Are Making a Film About Mark Fisher, which highlights the enduring relevance of Fisher’s ideas on capitalism and mass culture. The screening will be followed by a conversation with, among others, Dominique De Groen and Laurent de Sutter, about his legacy and his influence on their own work.
