Palestinian poet Asmaa Azaizeh presents Don’t Believe Me if I Talked to You of War, a poignant, poetic-musical performance. This multilayered piece centres on her powerful poems, in which personal and collective histories converge to lay bare questions of hope, violence, and identity.
Musician Haya Zaatry accompanies Azaizeh, and her vocals, guitar and electronic sounds add an extra dimension to the performance.
Following the performance, Azaizeh will take part in a conversation with Brigitte Herremans about her poetic practice, which was translated into French last year, following earlier translations into Swedish and Dutch.
Previously presented at festivals, including Avignon, this international production brings together poetry and music in an intimate and compelling experience. A unique encounter between language and sound that lingers long after the performance has ended.
