Meet the Writer: Maggie O’Farrell

28 Sept.'26
- 19:30

At the Oscars, it was actress Jessie Buckley who took home the award for her performance in the film adaptation of Hamnet, but author Maggie O’ Farrell has also attended quite a few award ceremonies herself: with seven literary prizes to her name, the Irish-British author, whose work has been translated into more than thirty languages, is one of the most beloved and most acclaimed writers of the moment.

O’Farrell’s new historical novel Land is set in Ireland before and after the Great Famine (1845-1850). Tomás and his ten-year-old son Liam are working on a major project to map the whole of Ireland. However, a disturbing encounter changes everything. Land is as varied and unpredictable as the Irish landscape itself, a story of separation and reunion, colonization and rebellion.

Annelies Beck will talk with Maggie O’Farrell about her work and life, the success of Hamnet and the new novel.

This program is a co-production between Bozar and Passa Porta.
