How do you write yourself free from the dominant white gaze? Following In Defense of Barbarism, critic and author Louisa Yousfi explores in her new book La grande méthode how writers from diasporic backgrounds are forging a literary language of their own - one that no longer seeks to adapt or justify itself. She will discuss this with Maboula Soumahoro, academic, essayist, and translator, among others, of Saidiya Hartman and Paul Gilroy. A conversation on the role of literature and the search for a form of writing capable of doing justice to the postcolonial experience.
The discussion will be moderated by Safia Kessas.
